My life in music has been a long one starting when I was five years old. Although not unique experience for many musicians, it does give me a perspective on what it's like to begin the study of music at an early age.
It was, it seems now, a very fairy tale like experience, and of course, that's not all it was.
I remember very clearly when I was five years old taking my first lessons.
I also remember my father getting frustrated when I didn't understand what "up" meant.
I thought up meant towards the ceiling no --- when you're playing accordion - "up" - in the left hand means towards the bellows.
All of this means that I understand and empathize with the oddities of perception that children, adolescents and adults can have when they ask their fingers, voices, arms or even legs to make music.
I welcome you to entertain the idea of expanding your abilities. To utilize our offerings to discover who you are. To breath life into your talents, to allow them full reign and to perhaps, challenge yourself, to actually enjoy yourself in ways you've never imagined.
All of this is true for anyone who takes up the study of music whether
for public performance or private enjoyment.
